There are several varieties of avocado. We supply Hass and Fuerte. The Hass particularly is prized for its lush, silky texture. The Fuerte is a firmer, velvety texture. Avocados
have a variety of vitamins (they’re a good source of vitamin E & B6), minerals and beneficial plant compounds. They are one of the few fruits to contain fat but the ‘good fat’. Ripening at room temperature can take 4-7 days. When ripe use us within 2 days and refrigerate. To speed up the ripening process place in a brown paper bag with a banana and keep at room temperature out of direct sunlight.
To check ripeness hold the fruit in one hand, gently squeeze and feel for ripeness. Avocados can be stuffed, or simply remove the skin, add sliced or diced to scrambled eggs, soups, salads, dips, sauces, sandwiches or crepes. Can also be served warm or cold. If served warm, add just before serving. If cooked it will have a bitter taste. |
